How it works
The Tracking feature allows creating tracking links and viewing analytics for both vCard and Storefront destinations. It works as follows:
-
Tracking Link Management:
- Create tracking links with custom names and UTM parameters
- Each link has a unique identifier and can be activated/deactivated
- Links are scoped to either a vCard or Storefront destination
- Links automatically include UTM parameters for source tracking
-
Analytics Dashboard:
- View comprehensive analytics including:
- Total visits and unique visitors
- Visits by source (direct, tracking links)
- Visits by time range (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly)
- Top tracking links by performance
- Visit sessions with detailed information
- Filter analytics by:
- Time range (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly)
- Source type (all, tracking-link, direct)
- Specific tracking link
- Date/time range (start and end dates with optional times)
- View comprehensive analytics including:
-
Visit Sessions:
- View detailed session information including:
- Timestamp of visit
- Source (direct or tracking link)
- Device information
- Referrer information
- Session duration
- Click on sessions to view more details
- View detailed session information including:
-
Integration:
- Tracking links are integrated into both vCard and Storefront managers
- Analytics are available as a tab in both vCard and Storefront dashboards
- Links can be copied and shared for marketing campaigns
-
Data Collection:
- The system automatically tracks visits when users access destinations via tracking links
- Direct visits (without tracking links) are also tracked
- All visit data is aggregated and displayed in the analytics dashboard
The tracking system helps measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and understand where traffic is coming from.
Settings
- Tracking Link Name: Custom name for identifying the link
- UTM Name: Unique identifier used in the URL (lowercase, URL-safe)
- Active Status: Enable/disable tracking links without deleting them
- Time Range: Filter analytics by hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly aggregation
- Source Filter: Filter by all sources, tracking links only, or direct visits only
- Date Range: Custom start and end dates with optional time specifications
- Tracking Link Selection: Filter analytics by specific tracking link
Permissions
- Workspace Owner: Full access to create, edit, delete tracking links and view analytics
- Staff Members: Access depends on workspace permissions; typically can view analytics and manage links
- Public: No access; tracking is automatic when visitors use tracking links
Use Cases
- Marketing Campaign Tracking: Create unique tracking links for different marketing channels (social media, email, print ads)
- Source Attribution: Understand which marketing channels drive the most traffic
- Performance Analysis: Compare the effectiveness of different tracking links
- Time-based Analysis: Identify peak visit times and trends over time
- Campaign Optimization: Use analytics data to optimize marketing strategies
Notes / Limits
- Tracking links are scoped to either vCard or Storefront destinations
- Each tracking link must have a unique UTM name within the destination
- Inactive tracking links still collect data but can be hidden from analytics
- Analytics data is aggregated; real-time accuracy may have slight delays
- Visit sessions are stored with detailed metadata for analysis
- Tracking links cannot be edited after creation (must be deleted and recreated)
- The analytics dashboard supports filtering by multiple criteria simultaneously
- Historical data is preserved; filtering does not delete data
- Direct visits are automatically tracked without requiring a tracking link
